Tahiti details:

Qualification history
Tahiti made their FIFA World Cup™ qualifying debut in 1992, with Fiji the only Pacific Island nation to feature earlier, having done so during the Spain 1982 campaign. With a deep history in the game through the nation’s French roots, Tahiti immediately showed their natural ability with Australia forced to work overtime to triumph on aggregate. Tahiti’s best result was three wins in Korea/Japan 2002 qualifying although New Zealand edged into the Oceania play-off.

The current crop
Like many Oceania nations, Tahiti has suffered from a paucity of matches in recent years meaning limited opportunities to gain experience in the international arena. However, the national team are set to be the beneficiaries of Tahiti’s historic qualification for the FIFA U-20 World Cup Egypt 2009 with a number of players since progressing to the senior team.

Solomon Islands Details:
Qualification history
The Solomon Islands have rich footballing traditions reflected in their FIFA World Cup™ history, which dates back to 1992. They immediately showed their abilities in firstly drawing with Tahiti and then sensationally giving Australia a scare before falling to a late 2-1 defeat. The Solomons came of age in qualifiers for Germany 2006, drawing 2-2 away against Australia to edge past New Zealand. Although the ensuing play-off against Australia ended in heavy defeat, over 20,000 crammed into the national stadium in Honiara with five figure crowds common for major international and club matches since.

The current crop
Coach Jacob Moli has a plethora of naturally gifted players to choose from and it is expected to be a revitalised Solomons side for the qualifying campaign. Despite a paucity of national team matches, numerous players filled the Hekari United squad which competed at last year’s FIFA Club World Cup, while the team will also be boosted by the competition offered in the Solomon Islands' first national league season played during 2011.
